Losing the Head

Post by Ivor »

It seems Head records with shops in Liffey Valley, Ilac and Galway have gone into administration.
Huge pity, they provided a bit of choice and competition for a short while.

Buy from real shops where you can folks. The internet is only for serious bargains or stuff you can't get here.
Vinyl -anything else is data storage.

Really sorry to hear about this, Liffey Valley is so close for me to get a vinyl fix. I have managed to get some real bargains in Head, Liffey Valley.

Curiously I was in Head Liffey Valley yesterday and I was conscious that the vinyl racks were sparse. Where did you hear this news?

Via Facebook. It does seem to be all Irish stores.

It is with great sadness that Head Liffey Valley has closed its shutter for the last time today. We would like to Thank all our customers for there Support and Loyalty over the last year and a half.
We are gutted that this has happened and is totally out of our control,
Our Passion is music and I hope you continue to support Independent Record Stores so this does not happen to other staff out there.

Thank you all again
Staff of Head Liffey Valley

Really sorry to hear this news. When I saw that the vinyl stock was down I even looked around to see if there was a sale on. Strange that nothing was marked down in price yesterday when I was there at 5.30pm! The one in the Ilac Centre had loads of vinyl!

There was a 20% off sale recently but as they have a shop in Belfast, hopefully unaffected, the stock might be going there.

Totally agree with this Ivor, no matter how old fashioned it may sound. Bricks & mortar shops are often only missed after they're gone but missed they will be nonetheless..

Spot on.
I was in Freebird just after Christmas and noticed three separate conversations between strangers about music, hifi and the madness of it all! Heartwarming.
Once you take into account postage etc online isn't that much cheaper,if at all.
