Digital Multimeter Probes > Probemaster

Post by nige2000 »

just broke another probe on one of my dmm

ive been replacing my probes with these
http://probemaster.com/8000-series-test-leads-only/

and ill have to order another set in next few days, so if anyone wants a set or anything in the catalogue we can combine shipping

can't recommend these leads highly enough
they can make cheap meters not suck too bad

I will join you Nige if it is not too late, always been meaning to buy a set with the small hooks but never got around to it.
Put me in for a set of the 8000 Master Kit 8023SK.

ill put the order in Monday to give a couple of days
ive bought several hook clips of ebay that were terrible (completely useless )
i have the 8000sk set too and these hooks are pretty good
even the 8000s kit will do the vast majority of stuff
its all about having faith in the measurements, measurements settle on a figure faster and the continuity test is far more responsive

Will talk to you tomorrow the multimeter you use which I believe is the same one I think is worth my while considering. My fluke is expensive but if it is the same unit your one gives the .1 etc readings which is very useful

its the leads thats usually cause the bottleneck, most midrange dmms are ok
ive a couple of real good meters i use for fine measurements and some mid range ones just for mostly voltage readings, some days i can manage to use 4 meters simultaneously

my fluke is an 87 v but to be fair thats a bit ott for all of us

oh i have a fluke 235 as well its uses are well limited

Speaking of cheap meters, I just got one of these. Amazing value for the spend - 6000 counts and it says 'True RMS' but I've not verified that for myself yet. The continuity check is a bit slow to respond compared to my Fluke 115 but its much more compact (useful for when you need multiples) and the display size doesn't suffer from the relatively modest dimensions.

Taking a holiday away next week in Beara so maybe after that.

thats pretty cheap, looks ideal for a secondary meter/s
seems to me on the cheaper meters its the leads that they really cheap out on,
it's quite surprising how performance improves on them with a good set of leads especially continuity and resistance

its ironic this zotec meter is more or less the same price as the probemaster leads
