Nice one Fergus. Leave the cables in your system for a few weeks, listen to everything and not just your reference disks and then go through this procedure again. Most people are doubtful about concepts such as cable burn-in but as there might be something in this, keep an open mind.
I was and still am stunned at the sound improvement brought by a Russ Andrews SuperSocket [with DCT]. Absolutely no idea how or why, but the SuperSocket bettered a similar looking MK socket by quite some margin.
In the Lars demo last Saturday, I noticed a significant step up in sound quality when he fitted the Odin mains lead between the Quantum and the distribution block.
It was gratifying to observe that my own system did not sound too bad [or in need of any major surgery] when I got home from the Show.

I agree with Tom, in my experience the power chords will take 100 to 200 hours of running
in to reach their optimum performance depending upon the component you are using them on.
If you can, use them to burn in on the most current hungry component in your system say a power amp
as they will take many times the 100 hours to burn in on a cd player or similar low current source component.
Alternatively, if you have an old freezer you could attach an IEC power inlet and burn the cable on
the freezer for a week.
