Has Hugo failed, or you're switching to something else?
I drained the batteries by accident and they wouldn't charge again.
So it is back to Chord, still under warranty though.

uploaded play v242, discovered a trick to get better sound, hopefully works for different set ups. Only issue is stopping play, doesn't seem to stop immediately via task mgr, but will via control.

Since completing this new audio PC build (PPA TCXO H197 board, PPA DDR4 RAM, PPA V2 Card, i7-6700k, various other hardware-based tweaks) I haven't had much time to do critical listening (too busy tweaking W10 to death, which is about as much fun as it normally is, which is to say: not very much fun and has a compulsive/maddening quality), but mqnplay 240 was definitely sounding better than any of the recent Bughead/Infinity Blades I briefly auditioned. In 241 I missed a bit of 240's "rawness" - almost bordered on fatiguing, but was a bit more propulsive, maybe? 242 brings back most of that propulsion, manages to keep 241's edge rounding to keep any fatigue in 240 at bay, with a boost in 3D/staging for good measure. Really good stuff, Gordon, thanks.

Trying play v242, also do rewrite on all exe files in Musicplayer. Sounds fine.

Stopping playing via task mgr - it stops immediately, and no noise.

But - when a track plays to the end, just when play/control finish, mostly a short noise is heard - can be loud.

yes, 240 had sibilance inducing instructions, 241 had them removed and 242 has a small tweak that seems to make a difference. Checked the code alignment and it all aligns without any manipulation by me.

Listening to my McCoy Tyner test track and it sounded superb, need a busy track to test v242. Great detail and slam.

242 seems to lock up my machine, so removed it. uploaded 243.

245 is worth trying, 2 new things that improve sq. Last version. Shall work on hirez now.

247 has optimal alignment, the end.

Is 16/44 flawed anyway, due to the brick filter ? What bit depth/frequency would be better ?

Isn't 24/96 usually the baseline for hirez?
I would put in a plea for 16/48 at some convenient stage, both for DVD audio tracks, and also for 320k internet radio downloads, which sound so much better when the downloads are converted to wav and played through MQn than they do on the station's own players.
