Bruce Springsteen

Going to see Bruce tomorrow, doing his River Tour. I'm note a huge fan (though I'm going with a friend from New Jersey who is) but this doesn't seem like something to miss.
It is at the LA Sports Arena which he supposedly likes a lot and is scheduled for destruction after these shows. In recognition of its impending destruction, Springsteen dedicated the title track from his 2012 album “Wrecking Ball” to the venue.

Will be a long one, 35 songs in total

I'm seeing him here in the summer. Like yourself I wouldn't be a huge fan but so many people have told me t.o see him that I'm going to see him!

Huge long-time fan and haven't missed a Bruce show here since Slane in '85. Love that he's doing The River in its entirety - it'll be the first time I've heard quite a few of those songs done live.

I'd much prefer the RDS since Croke Park is generally terrible for sound quality and the immediate location is horrible too. But I'll be standing - in the pit - on both nights (the only way to guarantee a great live experience.)

My biggest fears in no particular order are...

1. Difficulty trying to find a decent pub not too far from the venue for pre-gig drinks. (Harry Byrne's in Clontarf is a contender.)

2. That I'll be surrounded by "boggers" wearing The County Colours yapping and yelping during the quieter numbers.

3. That the hugely over-rated and intensely annoying Glen Hansard will join him for 'Drive All Night' - ruining it just like he did in Kilkenny in 2013.

4. That some eejit will hold up a 1916 banner during 'Independence Day'

5. That Bruce will do, 'Waiting On A Sunny Day' .

6. That it'll be the last time I'll ever see The E Street Band play with Bruce. (They're all edging towards the 70 mark.)

A short report.
All in all a good night. People were really friendly, talkative before the show and all seemed to be extreme fans. Many, including the friends I went with, had seen Bruce many (many) times. Both the band and fans were very enthusiastic and there was great energy. The show ran from about 8:00 pm to 11:45 pm.
As I mentioned not a huge fan but could not pass up the chance to see him. I have The River but Nebraska is probably my favorite Bruce albums. I never heard Wrecking Ball and he played quite a few from that after he did The River and I didn't really like the newer material. He probably did everything well but I found the more rockier songs to be a little unclear and to me sounding too similar. I did really like the version of Point Blank, The River and Independence Day.

Totally with you on Glen Hansard, was/still am a big Frames fan, liked Swell Season but not a fan of his solo stuff. The more I saw of the guy on TV and interviews etc the less I liked him. Still, I bought him last solo album and we went to see him live a few months back but I can honestly say it was one of our least enjoyable shows, we didn't even stay for the encores.
