I have been reunited with my circa 1984 Naim Audio NAC42S, SNAPS and all the connecting cables. The problem is how to use it as the connections are DIN and the cables are DIN (suitable for a Naim power amp). The 42S has phono boards for Asak (moving coil) cartridge.
Options are:
Fit a DIN connection to a power amp. Would a Naim preamp work with a valve power amp? Is it worth the effort?
Sell the combination. How 'good' is the 42 preamp?
Swap the combination for something useful (like a Squeezebox).
Store it until a cheapish (or free) Naim poweramp becomes available.
All suggestions/offers of help are welcome. Thanks.

You can get din to RCA connectors easily on ebay and the like.....
then you can use it with any amp.

Re: Suggestions needed please......
I'd hold out for a Naim power amp. There's a few 140's on ebay for about £100 and a 160. Rumour has it that the chrome edged models sound better than the later olive or all black models.
Re: Suggestions needed please......
There should be no problems connecting a naim pre-amp to a non-naim power amp [but I believe the opposite arrangement can give problems since the naim pre-amp rools off inaudible frequency extremes].
It is possible to get a PHONO-DIN convertor that you can attach to your existing cables. Alternativly there are various companies [including naim themselves / the chord company / flashback sales etc] that make phono to din interconnects.

Still think the adaptor is the way to go - you can use into your classe monoblocks then......

Re: Suggestions needed please......
Agreed -- by PHONO-DIN convertor I meant an adaptor ..
That sorts the connection from pre-amp to power amp but convertors/adaptors will also be needed for the
various inputs [and the standard naim phono input is BNC]
