@sima66: Thanks for testing. You can also try 'wtfplay' (without 'u') as well as different kernels. If you don't mind that is.

Have you tried down clocking your processor, shutting off C states and Turbo Boost, and memory clock reduction yet Adam?
Fidelizer and PL will do some of this for you in Windows but if you have not done it in Bios then most likely wtfplay will run with all these at max and switched on.

On my audio PC with i7 and PPA clock I have CPU at 800Mhz and Memory speed at 800Mhz with all C states, Turbo Boost, Hyper Threading and almost everything else off.
Loading of wtfplay and tracks takes a little longer but sound improves.

If you are not comfortable with messing with Bios then leave well alone till you read up a bit on it.

Cheers, Pearse.

Thanks, Pearse, BIOS were the first things what I did, soon after my PC played again.
BTW, I followed your MSI instructions + adding some more and always forgot to thank you for the very, very useful post! ;-)

Also interesting, the speed of wtfplayer it scared me so many times! It starts almost immediately when I press enter!

Great, sounds like you are good to go so Adam, the BIOS tweaks should have MQN singing well even with FP & PL.
I guess Win10 will be next challenge and by all accounts sounds like an improvement over R2 so more tweaking to look forward to :-))
Cheers, Pearse.

In the example above -p 60 is not necessary, as this is the default value. Please note that, higher priority does not mean better. I think Jonathan experienced and reported this first. If I remember correctly, in his system uwtfplay with the priority greater than 75 sounded like crap. I mention this in the manual.

Hope this helps.

Yes that's right. My general experience with Priority was that going over 60 made the sound harsh & thin, whilst below 50 say made it looser and boomy.
All relative of course, but quite discernible.

But I run uWTFPlay on a low power J1900 mobo, so perhaps the effect is more pronounced.

Or YMMV!

@sima66: One more thing came back to me when BIOS was mentioned. That was during very first tests with Jonathan (the first release I think). He had HPET disabled in BIOS because it was recommended for JPlay or some other player. Enabling HPET improved situation dramatically.

Hey, this project sounds very interesting - I would like to try this player.

I have an RME HDSPe AES32 soundcard - is it possible to add suitable driver please?

Thanks

Thanks Fryderck,
As far as I remember everyone recommends disabling HPET and mine is also disabled. I will try that hopefully tonight!

Best,
Adam

Hi Steve,

have you seen my post before about Class Compliant Mode with FF UCX? If your RME card allows CC mode it will be recognized. you might check RME's manual.

Good luck
