You cannot go wrong with the Cluytens/BPO cycle Don and the performance of the Sixth is special, enjoy. I have just finished listening to Lance's program and now I am off to bed.

I listened to Emma Kirkby in the same repertoire. I'm really chuffed that I inspired you to listen to Purcell. Facebook is good for something!
Indeed it is, and it was time well spent too Simon. Happy anniversary.

It is the one I usually turn to when Ludwig van's symphonies are in order.

I do not have a single go to set. My listening is more driven by the symphony I want to listen to and my preference for the performances of the chosen symphony.

On first listen I particularly liked Symphony No. 2.
I don't have any recordings of his music.

Neither di dI until earlier this year. Now my collection is starting to grow!

Hugely enjoyable performances.

If you are going to pursue Purcell any further may I suggest to you that Gardiner is very good in this music.

I wholeheartedly agree. I have the set below and it is marvellous. I wanted to listen to Dido and left the cd on because they music is just lovely.
