You sir are on a roll. I have read great things about that performance.
I had actually ordered it about a month ago Seán but the seller let me down. I re-ordered from another seller and I now have it on my shelf this evening. I am looking forward to hearing it.

A glorious opera Fergus, where the chorus, the people, is the principal character. Mussorgsky captured better than any other composer the tragic suffering of the Russians. What Verdi did for Italy, Mussorgsky did for the Russia.

Hi Fergus, pardon my ignorence but who was/is Jiránek? Was this recording recommended to you or do you like that particular ensemble, which is, incidentally, entirely unfamiliar to me?

Hi Sean, Jiranek is the composer, Frantisek Jiranek [1698-1778]. It was a recommendation by Pepe some time ago and I have only bought it now. You can see the time period within which he is composing so one has a fair idea of what to expect. Another major reason for such a purchase is the presence of Sergio Azzolini who is an excellent musician.
