This chamber music is new to me. Magnificent music and performances, particularly the first SQ.
Bloch is much under-rated in my opinion. These are great quartets.

Other than his magnificent work Schelomo these quartets are the only other exposure that I have to this composer; definitely one to explore further.DonKC wrote:fergus wrote:Bloch String Quartets 1 & 2....

It is marvellous music-making by Solti and the CSOfergus wrote:Mahler 1....
The two Concerti Grossi (especially #1) are great. Check out Baal Shem for Violin and Piano (or orchestra), the Méditation hébraïque cello and piano and the three solo cello suites. Some have found the big Symphony in c# is worth a listen, I found it a bit tedious.fergus wrote:Other than his magnificent work Schelomo these quartets are the only other exposure that I have to this composer; definitely one to explore further.DonKC wrote:fergus wrote:Bloch String Quartets 1 & 2....

Those recommendations are very much appreciated Don and I will certainly look into all of them.DonKC wrote: The two Concerti Grossi (especially #1) are great.
