Suggest Linear Power Supply for Squeezbox

Post by james »

I am running a Squeezbox .. it's power supply is a 5V external plug containing a switched-mode power supply. I believe I can improve the sound with a linear power-supply. Is there something I can buy in Maplins's or on the internet. I dont want to spend hundreds of euros for something really high spec.

Thanks

James

PS I think this was discussed before a whiel back but I can't find the reference.

What amperage is the existing supply rated for?

James,

I think I have one here that I made when I was still using the squeezebox - feel free to take it if you would like to try. if i remember correctly it made a fair difference to the analog output, but not the SPDIF.

Thanks Fran for the offer. I might borrow it from you at some stage.

I see this on amazon ..

It's only rated at 1A but my current supply is rated at 2A .. I don't know what the Squeezbox actually draws. If I used this and it was not powerful enough would it do any damage ?

Hard to imagine squeezebox needing more than 1 amp

Have had good experience with the strontonics supplies before

I got mine here
