Lovely indeed Seán. Bohm we all know and love in Mozart but the Jochum in Haydn was a bit of a revelation for me....one to explore further if he did any more Haydn.Seán wrote:Lovelyfergus wrote:Two favourites on one LP: Mozart 41 [Jupiter] & Haydn 94 [Surprise]....

Re: What are you listening two?
I like what Kertesz did in his tragically short conducting life; if I come across any composer of interest to me in which he had a conducting role I would not hesitate. So it was with this one Seán. It was a very fine version, taken a bit on the slow side but very expressive.Seán wrote:Now that looks interesting.fergus wrote:Schubert: Symphony 8 & three Overtures....

Re: What are you listening two?
I would be in a somewhat similiar situation Seán. The simplist way to answer that question is to say that I did not notice him at all. That is by way of a compliment as the music flowed freely and lightly as it should do in these two works.Seán wrote:I have only heard Berglund lead an orchestra in Sibelius, what do you make of those recordings?fergus wrote:Two oboe concertos....

More Mozart....

Subtle, low key performances with Wolfgang Meyer, the basset clarinetist, being the pick of the instrumentalists for me.

Schnittke: various works....

There are actually five different works on this CD but, for me, the pick of the crop was the Piano Quintet.
