f...n' hell. What is going on here. I thought with 4.25/9.12 avx2 it cannot go much further, but ... v24 just blew my mind. So musical, so accurate, so easy and relaxing. It is huge step from 4.25/9.12. I would say as big as from auto to fix device version. My life was divided again ... before mqn v24 and after ;) Thanks Gordon. Fantastic job! v24 is where the music starts ...

Wow, great.... dept is amazing and clear.

Allthough, I am not sure if stage width is sometimes a bit packed in the center? I need time to listen and get used before I can go back again and understand more of the difference.

Gordon, I have the feeling you are now able to transfer the develpoment and experience from the wasapi sq development to KS. Very promissing break through I guess.

Thank's
Thomas

For everyone who wants to try, the way how to do it with some hints in summary:

Create a folder c:/musicplayer

Copy MQncontrol.exe and MQnloader.exe in that folder; at this moment in time you need both as v7.

Hex edit mqnplay.exe, as described by sebna on page 650 of this thread, with your device name, latest versions work all with v7 for example all v2x long device name.
Watch carefully if you have edited the mqnplay.exe right while checking. I overlooked several times my own mistakes at the beginning... A hint: if you overwrite manually check if you are always at the right place. With the input of { the mark has jumped elsewhere and one needs to go manually to the right place! This may happen with \ and } as well!

Copy your wav file renamed to test.wav as well in the folder c:/musicplayer. V24 works with wav files > 50 MB only.

Double klick mqncontrol.exe to start playing, wait some seconds and it should play.

Watch out, mqnplay.exe needs to be stopped manually in the task manager each time before you can play again! And it stops playing after a couple of minutes. If you have no sound, check tasks first if there is any open mqnplay.exe and close all of them. Try then again.

It is worth the work ;)

I keep my fingers crossed!

cvrle59, please see a very informative Octagon post above :)

P.S. loader and control - both V7 versions.

I should've read it more carefully, thanks!
If this one is already answered I'm out here...lol. I saw that file can be >50MB, but is it still just one file?

As good as it is, it's still a reminder that the code affects the sound. Would be interesting to see what could be achieved with a modified linux kernel/device driver. Shame the linux guys all seem to be bits are bits believers.

No worries.... just stay with us.

You can only have one file with the same name, don't you? ;)

Ok, you may add several wav files into one with bigger size.... But the test versions stops playing after a couple of minutes, so you might not reach your second file. :( But it would be a way to play smallest files, yes. :)

Enjoy

It is still just an alfa test version for determining the effect of code changes on sound quality. It is not intended for ordinary use.

You can only listen to the first 50 MB of a sound file (that needs to be larger than 50 MB).
But it will be a very pleasurable 50 MB ;-)
