Shostakovich symphonies on Sky Arts 2

Post by Diapason »

Just spotted there's a series of Shostakovich symphonies being shown on Sky Arts 2 at the moment. Gergiev conducting the Mariinsky Orchestra apparently. I'm currently enjoying number 4.

Thanks Simon. I have set my upc box to record the remainder of the series and I recorded the Fourth last night.

As it turned out, I had to leave the room to tend to the little one's demands, but when I returned to the sitting room for the closing credits, I was impressed to discover my wife had sat through the whole thing. This is progress!

I have just finished watching and listening to a sparkling performance of the Fifth Symphony.
