No "choppy bit" required. A v sharp knife for wafer thin slices and a sup of your favourite tipple. Essential kit. Highly recommended. Image

Here's a pic of part of my xmas day haul - I mentioned the receiver earlier - well it had friends. This absolutely gorgeous denon direct drive deck with audio technica AT-1009 arm and a B&O MMC6000 cartridge. The arm needs a bit of TLC but is working OK.

The other part was a very clean pair of KLH model 23s - again, they need a little TLC but they are in great shape. The capacitors in the crossovers fail in these so they need a bit of care too. Its very interesting to see these older (40 years) speakers, how they were assembled etc. Modern methods make for much more precise construction, but these do sound pretty good!
