Well jpc have found 20 ways to give us all a very Happy Christmas: they have box sets of the works of a range of composers including JSBach, Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert, Vivaldi, Rodrigo, Brahms, Corelli, Tchaikovsky, etc. These sets are on the Brilliant Classics label. Several off the sets are available at a reduced price, the reductions, if applied, vary in range from ten to forty three percent. The Beethoven collection is FABULOUS. The set that has caught my eye (and ear too for that matter) contains the works of CPE Bach, it looks good. Here is the link: https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/classic/browse ... 8588_64446

Enjoy

The performance of the Third Symphony alone is worth the outlay.

Thank you for that Seán. The Frescobaldi and Schutz would attract my personal attention.

Just looking at that I am minded that I have not heard Gould playing anything other than JS Bach!

Some good prices in mdt's box-set sale:

Edit: Actually, I've just realised how prohibitive the shipping costs to Ireland can be...

I used buy quite a lot from mdt but stopped around a couple of years ago for that very reason.

I have just finished listening to another Beethoven Symphonic cycle, this time under the baton of Szell and while looking for an image to post I saw this bargain on Amazon UK....

It is not the edition that I own but this one is selling for £6.76 + postage. I thought that it was a very good cycle overall with some very good performances, the stand outs for me being Symphonies 2, 7 & 9. Definitely worth the small money!
