I'm caught painting a bedroom here so I missed it. What was the verdict?

I don't know Simon. I never listen to it live. If I am going to listen to it I always listen on the playback facility; that way if you miss something that they say or you want to hear a piece again you can simply replay it. Just go to the BBC Radio 3 site; they will leave it there for four weeks.

Okay Fergus if you don't want to find out until you have had a chance to listen to the programme avert your eyes NOW.

Parrot was first and Herreweghe second, I preferred Herreweghe. Gardiner was dismissed early on in the proceedings, although to be fair, Simon Heighes did start with Gardiner.

Philippe Herreweghe, like Rene Jacobs, has always been very good with English music.  I'm very interested to hear what his William Byrd sounds like.

I don't think I'd agree with Parrot in first place, although that's the disc I've bought most recently and know the least. I don't know the Herreweghe so I can't really comment, but it's interesting that Gardiner was dismissed early. Was anyone else mentioned? Any love for the old MacKerras recording?
