Can I Use Two Digital Outputs Simultanously ?

Post by james »

I have a box [a Squeezbox Transporter actually] that has three digital outputs ..

phono/digital -- capacitor coupling
bnc/digital -- transformer coupling
optical/digital

Suppose I attach three DAC's to these three outputs .. will having more than one DAC connected [and switched on] degrade the sound of having just one connected ?

---

The REAL question ...

Most of my hi-fi is left on all the time [everything except the power amp] and I have a DAC and a CD-player [that can work as a DAC] and I would like to be able to use both to listen to the Transporter.

The DAC has coax and optical inputs
The CD [as a DAC] has just coax inputs

So I can use ..

Transporter -- coax -- DAC
Transporter -- coax -- CD

or

Transporter -- optical -- DAC
Transporter -- coax -- CD

Any suggestions / advice ?

The DAC is Naim; the CD is Resolution Audio.

Its hard to know without knowing the inside of the transporter. I don't think you can do any harm, so I'd say fire ahead and try it.

Its probably safe to use the optical and one of the coax outputs in parallel but I dont know if it will effect the quality ... unfortunatly the transporter is not made any more so I can't ask the manufacturer what they recommend.

Innocent bystander here, but I can't imagine why it wouldn't work.
