Today is the 300 anniversary of an immensely admired composer in the XVIII Century, Niccoló Jommelli, he fell out of fashion in the 19th Century, and he is still awaiting reevaluation, I am sure his time will come.
Well you have made one convert to the cause here Pepe!

As an admirer of Charpentier I am delighted that you enjoyed listening to his music Mark. I have not heard that one but I am sure that Jordi Savall does great justice to M. Charpentier.

I have been savouring Beethoven's complete works for String Quartet played by the Quartetto Italiano for some time now....

I am very pleased to own this 10 LP box set and I have been rationing my listening in order to prolong my pleasure; twenty sides of vinyl played through valves....sheer magic!

Superb musicianship and Mediterranean warmth, that´s what set the Quartetto Italiano apart.

Agreed, there are none better. I ADORE the Italian Quartet.

This mornings album and my favourite version right now. Wonderful tone, lovely fluid playing, very natural and musical.

Spent yesterday afternoon wallpapering a room. The pain was eased by listening to Lully's Atys....
