I'm looking forward to it alright.....4 days in the area devoted to photography. I have planned to bring the digital for colour and a zeiss ikon 6x9 folder for the B&W.

I was recently looking through some photos in a particular folder and I once again realized that the greatest asset that one has as a photographer is not your equipment but your feet and your eyes. Moving closer to or around a subject will obviously change the perspective on the subject. Look at your subject and try to visualize it as a finished image and then try to capture the image that is in your mind in your camera.
The following would be a typical holiday photo....

I knew that there was something there so I walked down for a closer look, re-framed and got a much more interesting shot....

Do not forget to tilt your camera, a simple ploy but orientation can definitely aid composition....

I took this shot last night with a homemade lens made from a magnifying glass on 5x4 film. Works out about a fL of 330mm and f4 or so. The image is quite soft, but a bit romantic/antiquey feeling....

I really like that effect Fran. If that was my image I would try a light sepia tone on it just for added "authenticity".
