Vinyl -anything else is data storage.

Yip, that's the end of the line for this thread anyway. The journey took a few twists and turns along the way with some surprising and unexpected results. In the end I'm glad I ended up with a big chunky behemoth of a player that sounds great. Some of you will no doubt bawk at the idea of buying a disc spinner instead of the PC/DAC route but hand on heart I really detested the experience of a PC front end no matter how good it sounded.
Once again a big thanks to all those who came out with their DAC's and CDP's. All of that testing and retesting led to me rearrange my system and room, yielding much improved results.
The new rack will be ordered this week and it will accomodate a new valve phonostage and TT that I've more or less settled on. But those wont be arriving for a few months at least. So stay tuned...
