Hello forum.
I am a hifi guy originally from Ireland, (Northern side), now living abroad.
Some 8 years ago I brought all my gear with me to Spain and I've now incorporated it into it's own purpose built hifi room.
I've found your website and I´m interested in keeping in touch with like-minded HiFi people.
My experience is:- 25 yrs collecting hifi equipment (mainly British) and vinyl and Reels - 7 1/2 ips.
My prize possession are my speakers......"OverkillAudio Encores".
I will take my time venturing through your website and I hope to benefit from your forum´s expertise. Also I hope to perhaps add something to the forum.
Regards
Stephen

Welcome Stephen,
A picture speaks a thousand words.... from 6 moons..
I think there are some similarities to the B&W Nautilus 800 series.
It appears to have two separate cables for the lower and upper drivers, is that correct? Is there a combined tweeter / mid range driver in the top unit?
I do like the Burr walnut effect... nice touch.

Thanks guys,
Actually the picture above is of Derek Wilson, the owner of OverkillAudio and designer of the Encores.
Yes the egg shaped Manger drivers cover the range of 200Hz to 35kHz.

Welcome to the forum Stephen. Stunning room and speakers. What sources and amps are you using?

Re: New hifi Room and member
Thanks guys for the kind words.
It was a struggle, (but a very interesting and satisfying one) to get the room ready for the electronics. It is, however, still a work in progress.
My timing was not the best, 2008-2009, because the critical phase of installation coincided with the beginning of the "Crisis". You guys in Ireland know all about that! The budget I set aside for the room eat quickly into my budget for the equipment I hoped to adorn it with! For example, I had a pair of Krell 450mc amps to power the lower ends of my speakers. I managed to keep them only for a few months; only to sell them in order to pay the electrician for his marvellous work on the room. [13 separate plug circuits - each one on its own trip switch, plus the separate Earth Rod & separate lighting circuit & more & more....]
Over the last 5 yrs I have fallen out with the room, and listening to hi-fi. I feel I don´t have the gear I need, to be able to get the best out of my speakers and room efforts.
Right now I have decided to re-visit the room regularly and I´ve now got the bug again. Things are looking better and I have found a new resolve to get the room up and running again. Call it a "re-injection of Hi-Fi Fever"!
I believe that by working the forums, (watching and listening, with the occasional input ), I will once again get excited about hi-fi again.
Lord knows I´ve spent 25 yrs collecting, listening and paying for the stuff....I shouldn´t let a little thing like "World Crisis" interfere with my pleasure:-)
Later, when I´ve dusted off the cobwebs of my equipment, I´ll give you guys an idea of some of the equipment I use to run my setup. For now I will tell you that I have favoured British speakers like JR149, JR150, Townshend Glastonbury´s and stuff like that. I am also a fan of Luxman from Japan. Maybe I´m just a 70´s guy.
Enthusiasm, like a smile, is contagious.....tell me I NEED to get back into Hi-Fi!!

Re: New hifi Room and member
I think we all go through phases of listening less or not as intensely as we once did but it always comes around again... a new piece of equipment or (more importantly) a new piece of music. Or maybe even a new group of hifi idiots to chat with... Music is there to get us through a crisis.
