You can alway add 2 pieces of tape on the USB pins on the PC side of the cable to make sure no 5v is getting into the USB cable for complete isolation and peace of mind....
yep good idea
on the usb a plug, tape the + test (on the right pin) it and then tape the gnd (on the left pin) and test it see if theres any difference
if there is with the gnd covered there must be a gnd loop

seems like these usb cards sound better when theres no 5v going through them

Hi Pearse,

I am sure you know it but just not to cause any confusion. It is level 6 that is purely for 16/44 playback (it will down sample all material to 16/44). Level 5 is different (better) DAC chip then level 4 and same as in level 7, also it has beefed up power section in compare to level 4 plus more room for upgrades.

Tony has level 5 in fact with some simplifying towards level 4, in the level 4 shell. Hence the name level 4.5 :)

Cheers,
seb

hehe, all I know so far is that it turns on... did not have a chance to test it yet with all the family visiting from Poland. The visit is thing of the past now so I shell finally play some music through it this very afternoon :)

I remember readings something which chip it is but cannot remember where it was or which one it was. Łukasz never mentioned it over the phone but I was not asking too much about lvl 6 as it was out of the reach anyway. All that he told me about it was that is not exactly transparent but that it is exactly the way he wanted it to be.

Cheers,

Thanks Pearse re usb cable sorry have been looking in but not really posting. As Seb says Level 6 is the sound Lukasz likes I never inquired about it as it was not in range or radar. Level8 I am sure will come and Level4.5 might be old hat probably in 2yrs or less but one has to accept that with LF. But he needs to have a kinda affordable dac in his line up so it will continue in some form unless the Chord hugo chip becomes the new darling.

You are not getting the itch Pearse after losing out on the Jadis DA88? The Meitners are kinda getting common as muck now!

Hi Tony, going really slow emails back and forth takes about a week each way lol I guess life got in the way and I think Lukasz maybe busy with the L7 for one of our members!

Anyways just received an email and I have a choice of duelunds, jupiters and copper jensens as he has them all available.
I presume the duelunds the best though I read the jupiters (cool name) are pretty good? I'll probably end up taking a week to get back to him but I don't know much about them, it does seem that everyone goes for the duelunds.

Getting the dsd addon also so I'll stick my old laptop into the dac and see what happens.

The easiest is to call Łukasz. His English is very good.

He was saying to me once that for him there is very little to none difference between jupiters and duelunds but said that Duelunds are safe bet as he had never unhappy customer with them (when I was talking to him he just received one of first batches of solid copper Jupiter in the world).

Back then the price of Jupiters was very low in compare to Duelund in his shopping chart but he said they will be leveled or closely matched as the real costs of getting either of them are very close indeed.

Cheers,

Thanks for the info sebna, you do hear a lot about duelunds but rarely the jupiters.
I'll probably go for the duelunds but I'll do a bit of googling before I get back to him.

Hi Dom are you going for 4 or 4.5 or maybe even higher???. From reports DSD is a must going forward and you will end up like me having to plan to send it back at some point if you don't take it now.
Lukasz does phone comms, email is very much like sending a mail to mars. I did get some very quick responses but they were just prior and after purchase. But as we know he is a great guy.
