The lovely bass player Charlie Haden died today, may he rest in peace.

Awfully sad news. Amongst my favourite musicians ever. RIP
I spoke with Uri Caine at Bray Jazz a few weeks back about Charlie Haden and how nice he was with everybody. Total gent by the sound of it. Gifted bass player who helped many of today's big name in Jazz. Sad.

I was lucky to catch him with the Quartet West at the Cork Jazz a few of years ago.
Lovely warm performance and great audience rapport.
Will miss him greatly.

Have only just seen Sean's original post. Very sad news. The Daddy of the Bass. Always played just the right thing at the right time, and knew the value of silence too.
