5.08 has 2 changes
uploaded 24 bit 5.08 avx2 ceexsm which has the first change only, is that an improvement ?
uploaded 5.08 avx2 p8 which might be better
Tip: Styles can be applied quickly to selected text.
mqnplay1644.exe 24 bit 5.08 avx2 ceexsm.08 ceexsm.08 ceexsm.08 ceexsm. looses some of the directness of the music, that part which creates the emotional connection to the singer / performance. I find 5.07 avx2 better in this respect. It is only a subtle change, but for me it makes a huge difference. It is this aspect that makes from a recording a live in the room experience.sbgk wrote:I think 5.08 is betterAleg wrote:5.07 avx2 is just finesbgk wrote:5.08 avx2 any good ?

Also mqnplay1644.exe 24 bit 5.08 avx2 p8.08 avx2 p8.08 avx2 p8 looses this aspect, even a bit more than ceexsm, pushing the performance somewhat more to the background. Everything else mentioned above applies as well.
5.07avx2 is something special again, that has something that is easily lost.

Re: MQN
5.08 sounds alright. great actually. typical mqn sound.
5.07 is truly special...
i can see why 5.07 is loved. have some similar characteristics like jplay
listening a bit more...
5.07 vocal emotion > 5.08
5.07 is better. just need to calm down the decay exaggeration

Re: MQN
ok back to 5.07, have been refining things.
have 2 more versions to test, test 1 and test 2.
one of these will be the final 5.07 version.
cheers
think test 2 was best
have uploaded final version of 5.07 as 5.09 avx2 only at the moment
the refinement was reducing all variable and label names to 1 character, so if there is any difference between 5.07 and 5.09 that is why.

Re: MQN
I spent some more time listening 5.07 avx2 and it is a great version, no question. So, it may sound strange, as most of you agreed about 5.07, but my champ is still 4.82 avx. It is"faster" and better timing than 5.07, at least in my system. 5.07 sounds live, but little too polite, kind of rounded, it is hard to explain the difference. Let's put it this way, 5.07 makes me to listen the version and system, but 4.82 "forces" me to listen to the music.

Re: MQN
If I understand correctly, 5.12 is supposed to be the best of these new releases.sbgk wrote:there was a problem with 4.09
4.12 is 5.07 with the code refinement
4.11 is what I was trying to do with 4.08, 4.10 is a variation of 4.11.
Compared this 5.12 to 5.07 avx2 and it falls short on several aspects:
- it has become less involving, music and vocals are more recessed.
- the low bass has lost some of the details and control, and again has become fat and (nearly/slightly) booming which makes it not suitable for listening at a bit higher volume levels.
- clearly noticeable is that decays are (literally) cut off, they stop abruptly and have no natural ending.
What can I say?

Re: MQN
What I would say is that 5.07 is just so good, why don't we call it 'The Final Version' and then move to Hi-res, Control (Pause, Play, Back, Next), KS?Aleg wrote:If I understand correctly, 5.12 is supposed to be the best of these new releases.sbgk wrote:there was a problem with 4.09
