There was certainly a different sound from this ensemble. The sonorities were wonderfully clear. The horns in the first suite sound wonderful. Speeds are brisk but not hurried.

Sibelius – Symphonies Nos. 4 & 5 played by the Berlin Symphony Orchestra/Sanderling....

No. 4 is a version that is a beautiful mix of restraint and an outpouring of expression; it is a deeply felt performance.
No.5 was yet another powerful performance with excellent playing and great sound quality.
