Because I will order them! Is it 4 and why 4? Is it lifepo4's then and what else? Spoon feed please you should be used to that at the moment just a different age group.

Whatever has happened here today sound is really harmonic. I think the duelunds are run in. Very sweet and 3D

ok lifepo4 cells take a while to come too
so 4 of these http://e-greenmotion.com/index.php?rout ... duct_id=52
and 8 of these http://e-greenmotion.com/index.php?rout ... duct_id=53

three of the above ebay regulators will do when using batteries

really need to start my thread for this

Unfortunately there is always questions. Weld tab or not? it is an option with the batteries.

Is there anything else to order? Should I fit all the batteries in a case or just make a wooden box?

sorry my bad yes weld tabs there not the easiest thing to solder without
i can take a couple extra of the small yellow cells if you need to reach a min order

Using the TZ Zun cable and need to check with Pearse I think it has power going through it but gut feeling is Lampi shouldn't need it, might have to butcher PPangs neat work. Need to try a cable without power but the elijah audio is ridiculous too short (10cm)
On CA there is a discussion on whether power is needed on L4 and concensus is NO, extract below!

Re- using Data-only USB cable with Lampi DAC

I have a Lampi Gen4 Level4 PCM DAC connected via USB to my Mac Mini. I have had NO problems with 'handshaking' between the two devices using a dB Labs Signature USB cable that I have taped over the 5v connector of using a thin strip of insulating tape.

Cheers,
Pearse.

i was wondering if 1,5A low noise regulator will be sufficient (3A are not available) to maintain charge of lifepo4 cells:
http://e-greenmotion.com/index.php?rout ... duct_id=53
Datasheet of these recommends 3A charging current...

i'm still leaning towards those low noise regulators instead of 5A ones (i can not find noise info on those..)..

wondering what gains i would have instead of my current 2x12V lead acid (trickle charged by pangs 2x12V 5A rails), and numerous NimH battery packs.. (charged by STRONTRONICS 5V 1A PSs)?

Thanks Pearse the TZ has the 5v power in it? Having gone at the heatshrink as I don't want to damage it. L4 is sounding very sweet now. Last night used 4.09sse again but will try some avx's to compare when I get a chance. I think it is the duelunds that are now burnt in or seemed to have changed. No real detectable harshness and found myself listening for way longer then intended.

Good to hear Tony, have been reading about the Level 5 a bit lately which is just for 16 44 and sounds like an interseting DAC also with a great following.
You can alway add 2 pieces of tape on the USB pins on the PC side of the cable to make sure no 5v is getting into the USB cable for complete isolation and peace of mind....

hi minionas

im gonna copy this to the picoless thread best continue there
ive dumped enough off topic stuff here

well the 1.5a would be ok but theres little breathing space, and its difficult to know how much of a maximum the 1.5 amp is
for example say your cpu is drawing 0.8 of an amp (underclocked) of the battery pack that in turn will draw 0.8 of the linear reg
stock bios settings that cpu amp draw could be up to 2.5 amp id really prefer if it could at least do that

dont worry about the data sheet its concerned with charging 2.5v cells up to 3.7v we are only worried about maintaining charge which is more or less what the cpu or whatever component is drawing

i have used a few of the 5 amp regulators i dont find them to be a noticeable disadvantage

i take it that the 2x12v lead acid batteries still sound better than ppa 2x12 linear rails on their own, otherwise you wouldn't still be using them right?

the benefit for you with going picoless, is yet again lower noise floor, cleaner deeper and tighter bass, more detail
(really everything better those are the most noticeable aspects)
and your familiar with the battery system

you can still use the nimh and lead acid packs, but the lifepo4s sound just that little bit sweeter
