Tube Rolling Tuesday

Post by jaybee »

Its in the low-end, but I decided to upgrade the tubes in my little desktop system....

out go the nasty little chinese valves bundled with the Fatman

In go some tasty little Russian numbers...

6N1P-EV Gold Grid OTK Plant NOS Matched Pair.....

They're only just warming up now, but I have to say, they are a fair step up already....

Muddy Waters Folk Singer got first spin and the presentation, esp. in a near field setting is far more believable, no extra octaves in the bass register! but a touch more control, yummy!

Nice one, I really rate those Russian tubes. Incidentally, OTK is the military stamp that says they're to spec, not the factory.

I wonder where they were made. Here's a handy little cheat-sheet that I happened across before:

Edit: Never mind, you got there ahead of me!

I'm also after a pair for my iTube 1.

Did you order them from the Ukraine?
Also, how long did it take to receive them after ordering?

Thanks, Mark.

Did you get them from somewhere like gstube.com, or was it an ebay job? I've had very good luck with Russian tubes from eBay I have to say.

I went for eBay.... the outlay was minimal enough as they aren't the priciest....

they are only used by Fatman/Dared and Acoustic Research (good company I suppose!!!)
