Yes, that was Neil Felton. I know he is still around though don't know if he participates in hifi or the forum anymore. Nice guy, from Wexford I think.Diapason wrote:I think one of the guys in the photos was called Neil. Is he still around?

That is the first think that struck me. Thought the audioplans were Dave's. Jasus Ferg and Derek look like starsky and Hutch or maybe it is Cagney and Lacey.Diapason wrote:I'm really struggling to remember some of the names. Whatever happened to Briano?
I've actually just noticed that there's a pair of GRAAF monos in one of the pics. I wonder are they the exact ones that I know own? It wouldn't surprise me.
I should also say I have pretty much zero recollection of that night!
It would seem Cloneys had a much bigger variety of kit back then.

I'd forgotten that the room didn't have those built-ins either side of the chimney breast, its certainly been gussied up in the meantime
A fair few objects of historical desire in there.... Copland... Primare.... ProAc.... Sonus Faber.... Krell... Mark Levinson
I wonder how they'd all stand up to the SOTA available today?
Amps would probably be just fine!

Great looking back isn't it? Still lots of that stuff that's very desired.....
Do or do not, there is no try

Well done Dave for digging up this treasure trove.
Great to see the old Forum, a huge debt of gratitude must go to Martin who not only set it up but convinced Noel to allow it on the Cloney site.
Jesus none of us looked too happy, I wonder what was playing at the time?
I remember Boaz on the forum (a friend of Martin) he did live in Ballsbridge anyone know where went? He had a lovely set-up Karmas, et-al.

Those 3 Copland boxes ended up in my home shortly afterwards! Lovely little system, not keepers but enjoyed at the time.jaybee wrote:I'd forgotten that the room didn't have those built-ins either side of the chimney breast, its certainly been gussied up in the meantime

He's still at large in Dublin, I'm not sure whether he still has the hifi bug (I suspect life and kids got in the way a bit, purely guessing) but Ivan still sees him I think. Last I heard he was well!Derek wrote: I remember Boaz on the forum (a friend of Martin) he did live in Ballsbridge anyone know where went? He had a lovely set-up Karmas, et-al.

Yeah that is Neil there alright. He kindly lent me some great Thai (I think) mono blocks to tie me over till I got the Nu vista. He left Hifi as he got busy with other things. He did live just up the road from me in Bray but haven't seen him around.
I can tell this was before I had kids ha ha...
