Apple and Beats Headphones

Hight opinionated article .. A sample ..

"One can imagine no greater sucker than the proud owner of a Pono player connected to Beats headphones. Having paid over the odds for downloading an unnecessary amount of data into a musician-endorsed player and paid further over the odds for his musician-endorsed headphones, he will find his two products are mutually cancelling"

I dont agree with a lot of the article but its fun to read ...

Two issues I see with Pono if its being pushed onto the public and mainstream:

1. High Res: Why bother when most of the record companies compress the sh*te out of recordings these days. 16/44 will be more than enough for that.

2. Headphones: Again, why bother when the majority of people with portable devices are listening through ear buds.

At least it might raise more awareness that better quality audio is out there.

i dont get it

beats by dre

really

apple was notorious for finding ingenious startups with huge potential and exploiting them
this seems to be the opposite

what could beats have to offer now?

agree just cause somethings high res doesnt automatically mean its gonna sound good
would be better to have great implementation of 16 44, at least you could store a bit of a collection of tracks

how much stuff is recorded in high res anyhow?

I'd have thought someone like B+W would have been a better fit?

same kind of quality aura, similar culture of providing what the consumer didn't realise they wanted (Zeppelin?)
