A system upgrade for relatively little money

Post by Rocker »

The SuperSocket Plus circa £35.00 plus postage from Russ Andrews WORKS.

http://www.russandrews.com/product.asp? ... JGTLPOQIIM,

Hard to believe that replacing an MK twin unswitched socket with an MK twin unswitched socket [and the benefits of DCT] would make any difference but the RA treatment does something - a something that you can actually hear. I was pretty sceptical at first and even more so with the socket in my hand but from the first sounds I knew that the advert blurb was genuine and true.

For example take a disk like 4 Non Blondes, a track like Pleasantly Blue and the sound sounds more real. The lead singer still screeches but it is more obvious that that is the way she sings and the screeches are thus less irritating.

On the Pink Floyd disk Echoes, the reverb sounds [reverb tails] are much clearer. Also it is much easier to hear the layers of sounds that Floyd used. The acoustic guitar playing on Wish you were here is real enough sounding to inspire one to take up the guitar!!!

Simply put, I consider this socket replacement to be a no brainer. In my opinion 'no name' branded sockets will have a detrimental effect on a hi-fi sound, I am very surprised that one of the better brands such as MK can be improved to such an extent. The usual warnings about electricity apply - electricity can kill and it usually does, so switch off at the main switchboard before doing any work on your sockets. The actual socket changing work is fairly simple, just remember to switch off the power first. Ask an electrician if you have any doubts or concerns, he will change the socket in less than five minutes.

There goes the last bit of whatever credibility I had left (after losing most of it in my reply to Stigpepper last week)..........
It's OK, if there is no bread I will eat cake.
