----TWEAK 69-----
windows color and windows taskbar
very important. affects sound density, balance, dry/not dry
desktop background = wallpaper
color = windows default. (am using win2012)
1. haven't discovered another color sounds more natural than the default.
2. don't use desktop solid color. please use wallpaper. this applies to 7, 8, 8.1, 2012 and R2.
if you use min server mode in R2. you have no choice but to use desktop solid color.
3. try to use same color as much as possible
4. don't change colorization! haven't yet find a combination that sounds better than default.
5. i find darker color = higher sound density.
6. default blue sounds most natural.
7. i have no idea which color is best
8. the bigger difference is color between desktop background + windows color, the worse is the balance as it seems.
9. i feel color grey is most analog tune. don't take my word for it hehe
10. as you notice from picture, i have only 2 system icons: volume icon and network icon.
this sounds the best for 7/8/2012/R2/8.1. this taskbar tweak was discovered from pkshan's blog.
you should hide action center.
click "Restore default icon behaviors" will sound best.

---TWEAK 69 continue---
for win2012/R2 with "Desktop Experience" disabled
as you may notice, in 2012/R2, you cannot select color.
1.download Aero8Tuner
2.if you like color grey, recommend color code=220, 220, 220.
3. please make a wallpaper with grey color just like that in the screenshot
UPDATE
tried a different color 185 209 234 (light blue), with balance to right most. wallpaper color matches non-focus application color.
much better SQ. not a little better. above setting now sounds incorrect.

----TWEAK 70----
win2012/R2 only
hardware acceleration for both ATI and Intel graphic
(it is disabled by default for server windows)
1. go to registry
2. find this value:
acceleration.level
3. change it from 4 to 0
4. this will enable hardware acceleration

CANCELLED
----TWEAK 70 EXPERIMENT----
disable CPU throttling
(this tweak is totally worth trying. better or worse. SQ change is surprisingly not small.)
set all planes to maximum. for my board, they are called:
Long Duration Power Limit: Max
Long Duration Maintained: Max
Short Duration Power Limit: Max
Primary Plane Current Limit: Max
Secondary Plane Current Limit: Max
for this board, e.g.
http://rog.asus.com/254052013/maximus-m ... herboards/
quote:
"Raising this value to the maximum value of 1023.875 virtually means the disable of the current limit barrier on the Intel internal Voltage Regulator, which prevents the CPU from throttling down due to extensive current that is drained by the CPU when O.C."
warning: if you set CPU voltage too high, your CPU will die.
actually sounds pretty good... pretty sure i am keeping this one. shall see...
UPDATE1
alright. sounds wrong. testing one by one now.
UPDATE2
alright, wrong direction. SQ better when values are reduced. tricky... what is minimum possible without BSOD?
UPDATE3
haha... had to reset bios. dangerous tweak
experimenting:
Long Duration Power Limit: 1
Long Duration Maintained: 1
Short Duration Power Limit: 2
Primary Plane Current Limit: auto
Secondary Plane Current Limit: auto
less digital stress, more refinement. sound size bigger. worrying
UPDATE4
two wrongs make a right. cancelling this tweak. hehe

retested HPET... ear pain within 3 seconds!
whoever recommends this
bcdedit /set useplatformclock true
either is a audiophile scam or has hearing impair.
