tried avx 2.78 and sse2 2.8's all with 1.5 control

actually prefered the 2.8 0x0 over the no vp
macro details more pronounced in no vp, micro details have less clarity and presence/placement than 0x0
detail is great, think we did loose a little richness and weight
lots of stuff much better though

alright, anyone else can be bothered to retest the old mqn.exe2.82.

tell me apart from it being raw and unfined and bias treble tune, 2.82 has every detail focus on music only.
that's quality resolution.

now listen to R2.79, apart from higher resolution, does it have better music than mqn.exe2.82?

can't convince myself that the treble is ok with 0x0

uploaded a R2.81 vp 0x0 version which may have better treble

"I can't run any of these new avx versions. I am wondering if I'm supposed with i7-2760QM? If so, what is the right control for?"
"Adam

Do you have on mqnload the "Run as Administrator" checkbox enabled in the properties tab?
I notice that Windows 8.1 is much more restrictive in its default settings.

Cheers

Hi Aleg,
Yes we live in the same town, and we know each other, but you mixed us up this time....LOL. Adam is Sima666.
I think I checked "Run as Administrator", but I will double check tonight. There are some issues with new mqnload beside this, that I found, but I need some time to write about them.
Thanks for replay.

Sorry George

Yes, I did get you mixed up. Sorry, bad me, bad me :-)

If you run the avx and you notice a short blink of the command window, please do check the Windows Event viewer under "Error" and see what exception code is given.
If there is an Event ID 1000 Application Error for mqnplay.exe and it shows "Exception code: 0xc0000005", then there is some autorisation issue.
But it would be helpfull to know if such an error on mqnplay.exe actually occurs.

cheers

Aleg

You worry too much...it's easy to get messed up in today's world overwhelmed with information...lol.
When I talk to the kids, pointing to all the toys their lives are surrounded with, I usually say, "More communication devices, less communication".
BTW, thanks for the tips, I'll check into it when I get home tonight.

https://drive.google.com/?usp=folder&au ... Eo5QWVtOEE

uploaded mqn.exe2.82.
unzip.
copy music files. click mqn.bat to play.
click "next song.bat" to go to next song.

sima66, notice you tend to like version with stronger/richer bass. 2.82's treble tune is overdone. expect bright sound in your setup. don't give up too soon. old mqn is 100% analog + vinyl tune + live + music focus
almost no software sounds more analog.
after listening to old mqn, you may realize neither sse or avx has the same analog tune.

(forgot to mention, old mqn is virtually immerse to jitter. sounds great whether OS is badly tweak, well-tweaked or untweaked. sse4 versions fluctuate a lot in SQ depends on OS. AVX is kind of stable most of the time)
