Thats almost certainly a voltage reg - 5 legged variety. Cheap and available once you know if its 5v or 3.3V and the current rating.

I might even have one here if you need it....

That sounds lucky in the end Pearse before Fran posted I was wondering where you might have to send the meitner to get repaired.

Yea, looks like two different 5V to 3.3V regulators
Easy enough to replace but it may have also blown the XMOS chip?

Reckon Pearse has hit the bottle by this stage. Good bottle of vino and worry about it next week. Hopefully your not right John and it is only the regulators.

Yes, hopefully that is the case but always worth pointing out the possible downsides, if it's not too negative a view

Not to worry guys, already committed myself to purchase of the whole board if Meitner will sell me one, otherwise I will be packing the Meitner next week for a trip to Canada, seems to like travelling this DAC as it has put up a lot of mileage already :-0
Just ordered another MSI Mobo from Paul Pang with clock fitted so one part of the rebuild started.

Once I get confirmation on the replacement board I will then have some fun trying a repair and who knows maybe some mods for someone capable to see if any improvements can be made!

Some valuable lessons learned along the way...

Next time hopefully.
Maybe I can speed up this comparison by sending Maciej a Ciunas converter to try with the Lamp?
Maciej, if interested, PM me with your address

You might consider sending that over to me instead?

Sure, are you getting the Lamp & Meridian back for another audition?
