lol... he is using my early day setting. CPU=1.6Ghz + ram=800Mhz.
that's a good combination. 2 to 1 ratio.

best non-compromising combo is 4Ghz + 2000Mhz. (also is 2 to 1 ratio)
it will show you digital jitters. hence, it will make digital sound if OS is digital.

1.6Ghz+800Mhz blurs the jitter, so you would think sound is more easy analog.
good compromise.
but clean power is a plus. (hard to do clean power with overclocking)

be careful. he ram timing looks wrong.
his ram is rated at 9-9-9-24
9*3-3=24
he is doing 9*2+3=21
resolution will be same. but it affects naturalness of sound.

quote:
"for advanced user 5-5-5-11". he is copying nige2000 old setting?!?!?!

nige2000, have you tried 5-5-5-11 with your RAM at 800Mhz? interested to know if sound becomes unnatural for you too.
(correct timing should be 5-5-5-9
11=5*2+1
correct calculation is 5*2-1=9)

can someone explain to me, why people like T series of intel CPU, e.g. 4770T, apart from the reason of lower power consumption?

i always thought, the highest quality CPU, they call it 4770K.
those CPU who don't qualify in quality, intel calls it 4770.
those CPU who don't perform at all, intel calls it 4770T, in the name of lower power consumption.

i mean, my 3770K has the same idle voltage as a 3770T. probably lower. i got a lucky chip, uses 5-20% less voltage than average quality chips.
you just underclock a 3770k, it becomes a better version of 3770T.

this theory/fact actually applies to speakers/headphones too.
good quality = flagship.
bad quality = cheaper series.

lol

when you find out tell me, i cant understand it
t models have their wings clipped therefore low power consumption
we can do the same in bios settings
so you get your 4770t max frequency is at 2.5ghz so you change to 800mhz or 1.6ghz
or you get 4770, 4770 etc etc max frequency and change to 800 mhz or 1.6 ghz

T or S after the model name wont make it sound better its just a lack of options
could understand if they were cheaper

oh my pet hate

i thought pangs adoption of the underclocking and undervolting was funny, over on jplay forum some thought i was nuts, or couldn't hear the difference
some did use it in the end, but now that pang recommends it its in the mainstream now or will be considered just to be the way to do it

i first seen the undervolting and underclocking on xxxhighend then much experimenting, ram timings provided by yourself (JC) as i still don't understand the way it works

this is pangs recommendation for advanced users
looks familiar (old settings)

"Please try 800Hz both CPU and RAM.
Set RAM voltage at 1.2V,
CPU Vcore at 0.6V,
RAM timing at 5,5,5,11"

undervolting doesn't have as much effect as it used to due as ive gone to much lengths to provide clean power
its seems surplus dirty power makes more noise than surplus clean power

agree there are better ram timings

my 3770K can downclock to 1.6Ghz/800Mhz just like 3770T
3770k has the same idle voltage as 3770T, as i learn on the web

I believe there is 1 best voltage for RAM.
for my ram
at 2000Mhz
1.54v=best
<1.54v=dry
>1.54v=blur

at 800Mhz
1.5v=best
<1.5=dry
>1.5=blur

cleaner power you can lower voltage i guess. but still you need to discover the best voltage.
will take a while.

interesting note:
from 2200Mhz, i think you also need to increase RAM-controller voltage as well. otherwise, SQ=earaches
my mobo doesn't really support this. SHAME. i actually think 2200>2000Mhz

Are those RAM settings in BIOS and how I can get to them?

My reason for T CPU is that when I don't know something I ask and take advice...........sometime I get wrong advice! ;-)

my clocks bigger than yours!!!!!!

just some more test bench stuff

doubt the spec would stand but a nice improvement all the same especially when powered via 3.3v battery!!!

soon there will be no pc left!!!!!!!!!!

No wrong advice.

IIUC the optimisers have the CPU run at 100% at all times, so there is no idle state and therefore the T-models have lower power consumption than the K-versions.

What clock does that replace?

Hooray! Then we can ask the Grand Duke of DeMoleGrips to put it all back together reightly.

this one
same a p pang

might consider doing some more

need to be very careful during removal cant just use molegrips and yank it out
