that's the plan. any feedback on the 16/44 versions ?
I can't give any intelligent feedback on 44/16 music, because all my music has DRC applied to it and those versions are what I normaly listen to.
Switching back to 44/16 even just for testing purposes nowadays sound so much off that the worst player with DRC sounds much better than the best player without DRC.

DRC has had a significant impact on the sound quality in my room.

That is why I would like a 32-bit version because all others lag way behind compared to DRC music.

At the moment I cannot test for sound quality but only for technical compatibility in my setup.

Cheers

All avx2 versions play with 44/16.
Sometimes it will not give sound immediately (they do start playing) and becomes unresponsive, so I have to 'kill' the proces.
But starting it again, it suddenly will give sound.

Funny thing is they will only give sound (they do start playing) when started via mqnload and not when started via the mqn.bat.

Comparing old and new on non-DRC music
The avx2 v6 is very good indeed, comparing it to my regular 2.71 it is definately better in details and attack and would be my preference if available as 24-bit in 32-bit.
Microdetails are very good, bringing out acoustic vibrations on tracks that do not easily show them.

Awaiting hopeful for a version to test on my 24-bit DRC-ed music.

Cheers

Haven't done comparative testing yet but Avx seems to be the way forward
Between low power and the new instruction set
Seem to come out on top
200 euro would do a Haswell conversion for most guys
Would like to try smaller period size
Even if its to get it out of me head
How would you read if motherboard would accept it, I mean , compatible?

Haswell mobo require the LGA 1150 cpu socket while
the SandyBridge/IvyBridge require the LGA 1155 cpu socket.

So if you're using Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge now, your mobo won't be compatible.

ok, think v6 is as good as it gets, I'm getting fantastic sq from win 8.1 on my unoptimised haswell laptop with hdd, so hopefully it will improve further if you have an optimised system.

the leap in sq for the avx2 version is quite surprising and hopefully provides a clue as to what is influencing sq.

shall get the other versions out during the week.

don't know why v6 won't work for you Ken

Aleg, interesting that you are applying drc and yet still prefer mqn as the source, maybe one day we'll understand whats going on.

so long and thanks for all the fish

What's your processor and pc configuration running that version?

That's what I was afraid of!
It's not only the new CPU, it's a complete new PC!

I don't know how the AVX's sound, but the latest V9 sounds beautiful. Hope for 32 bit soon.

Gordon, it looks like this little break from MQn did you good and recharged your batteries! ;-)

Well, I don't find that surprising or remarkable.

The DRC is correcting the effect my room acoustics has on sound waves as received on my sweet spot. Its effect is therefore primarily correcting effects of reflections, standing waves, phase shifts as caused by my room. The measurements are made by an integrated player/recorder, and not with MQn or another player.

So the better the quality of the music produced, as by MQn, the better the result.
And MQn is still the player with the best quality music.
DRC doesn't correct the effects of software players (maybe, to a degree for the one used for making the sweep, but a sweep is not a very complex signal).

So DRC may bring quality from a 5 to an 8.
MQn may bring quality from a 5 to a 7.
Together they bring it from 5 to 10. :-)

Cheers

On my i5 4670T haswell any awx versions seem to work: after track is loaded into memory, just before any sound I get an mqnplay.exe error 'The instruction at 0x40001713 referenced memory at 0xffffffff. The memory could not be read.'

Sse2 and sse4 works fine.

Any advice guys?
