Phew Hate when it doesn't work but when I see others have the issue at least I know it isn't something I have done on this occasion.
It aint working for me either Gordon. Similar to Aleg it opens up and loads but exits straightaway.

I used a 2.71 version then tried a 2.66 with intel sse4 instruction. Same issue.

are you using both the mqncontrol and mqnplay 24-96 versions ?

It works on the little 24bit dac I have for dev, but haven't tried the cuinas yet.

Yes, both of the 24-96 version.
Using it on Diverter HR2 with Thesycon drivers.

I've tried the realtime priority setting with all the players I've tried and have come to the conclusion that it increases the preceived detail, but in the end becomes tiring to listen to. I think if too high then it interferes with essential services which is maybe why it sounds as it does.

It doesn't feel like that for me.
I do use the settings on an i7 with Windows 2012 R2 in Core mode and with Audiophil's Optimiser and some other tweaks. So the processes have been scaled down quite a bit.

I can listen to it for hours on end, multiple complete albums in a row. I don't experience fatigue listening to it. I do notice that with some recordings it can sound a bit sharp, but that's more due to the recording than due to the player. In those cases I either choose a different player version or step down to high priority which softens the sound somewhat.

the development choices that were made for MQn were designed to avoid that sound, so guess it's tailored to my system to an extent, but I have other high quality sources to compare it with so I know how my system behaves.

something wrong there then. did any of the previous 24 bit tests work ?

have just uploaded hirez versions of mqncontrol and mqnplay which play all 16 in 16 and 24 in 24 formats, have tested them all on the cuinas convertor and they all play ok.

shall do a non sse4 version as later.
