Re: RIP Claudio Abbado
This is terrible news, I LOVED Maestro Claudio Abbado's music-making and I would have loved to have had the chance to attend one or more of his concerts, he was a very special musician, may he rest in peace.

Some of the great Abbado recordings, boy, what a legacy!!!!
Re: RIP Claudio Abbado
Lovely selection Pepe, and may I add a sample of my favourites:
He was a hugely significant musician in twentieth century music, he will be sorely missed and has left a lovely legacy.

Re: RIP Claudio Abbado
Sean and Jose: Wonderful string of album covers which truly inspires one to pay tribute to Abbado by listening to his recordings. I think I will listen to some of his Mahler this week!
Thank you for posting these!
I was eyeing the dvd sets of Abbado conducting Beethoven as well as Mahler. Would you overall recommend them (or parts of them)?

Welcome back Peter, yes, most definitely, buy both box sets. Abbado's work with the LFO is really splendid, I have several of the recordings and his Beethoven cycle with the BPO from the early 2,000's, mentioned earlier by Pepe (on CD), is well worth getting.Peter wrote:Sean and Jose: Wonderful string of album covers which truly inspires one to pay tribute to Abbado by listening to his recordings.
