Win 8.1 (and Google) told me that (msvcr120.dll missing). Installed MS VS 2013 runtime and no such errors anymore.

It was kind of sarcastic, so don't bother. I just like standalone music players. Web browser interface is all new to me. I'll try IE tomorrow. I'm sick of Firefox.
BTW how to restart squeezelite-win, do I need to restart my PC?
uploaded portaudio.dllopt3 - might remove the msvcr120.dll dependency, also sounds best
surprising how much these settings affect the sound.
wait till you get ipeng or equivalent on your notepad, then you'll start exploring your music.
just restart the lms server to restart squeezelite, there is an icon at the bottom right of the screen which you can right mouse click on and stop/start, can also do it from the control console.
think the wdm ks adds a lot, seems to make the sound less code dependent, though these settings have made a difference. There are latency and buffer setting options as well to try for pa/squeezelite from the options setting box
My signature says it all....:)
It's not just 16/44, or 24/96/192 then even Internet radio at 320kbps (Naim, Linn, Paradise...) finally flying through real player, and it sounds fantastic like never before.
On top of everything, my Lumia 1020 is not just a great camera/phone, it can do pretty good job as a Remote Controller too.
Thanks Gordon!!!

don't think so, that's a jplay option isn't it ? I suppose all not essential processes could be stopped.
wdm-ks sounds very good on my totally untweaked haswell laptop playing off a hdd. No need to go back to MQn now ? It really is that good and I've only just started tweaking it.
Very enticing that remark, Gordon.
I'm going to give it a try today with a 2012R2 USB3-stick.
Nigel, I'm sorry but I think our little MQn-test might have to be postponed, but I'm sure you won't mind. I'm very curious to compare the portaudio-mod.
Gordon, do you know if LMS will read Id3-tags from WAV-files?
I must confess I didn't check if my wav-files I used for testing Daphile last time were properly tagged, but they weren't shown in the catalog inside Daphile.

what is this supposed to mean?
In the LMS settings - go to plugin tab - scroll to bottom - paste in the URL for Tridoe's page given some posts ago - press enter - new 3rd party plugins will appear, one of which is local player - install it - restart LMS & enable local player
