Gale 401
Re: Gale 401
Nice work John and well done for your effort and bravery. I am sure that they will sound even better when they settle down. May you enjoy them!

Thanks for that Fergus. I'm very pleased how they sound and encouraged to take on the crossovers in a week or two after I get a solid idea of how they sound now

Glad everything worked out ok and it's only the beginning :-) Who said 'old' was no good?? Good to see that you're playing 'Five Leaves Left' too :-)
Re: Gale 401
Great work there John, there's nothing like seeing old hifi, and speakers especially, get a new lease of life. Well done, they look fantastic.

Fair play to you John that doesnt look like an easy project. You must have a steady pair of hands. I would have punctured the woofer with my thumb within 5 mins.

Re: Gale 401
Thanks for the kind words guys! It's far easier than it sounds. I'm completely with Ivor on this one, there's so much good gear from the seventies that can be coaxed back to something approaching it's former glory with a little bit of time and effort. I'd love to have a go at those Sansui speakers with the fretwork grills that I dreamt of as a teenager!
Anyway, I'm going to listen to these for a while and then take them apart again to re cap the crossovers. After that, if anyone wants to try them you'll be more than welcome to take them for a week or two.
