Re: Recent Purchases
I'm pleased to be able to say that three new recordings have wended their way Norfolk-ward...
Dvorak: Piano Concerto/ Schubert: Wanderer Fantasy
Richter/ Kleiber (EMI)
Korngold & Goldmark: Violin Concertos
Perlman/ Previn (EMI)
Dvorak & Schumann: Cello Concertos
Du Pre/ Barenboim (EMI)
I'm off on a week's holiday on Sunday, so I'll let you know what I think in a few weeks..

Re: Recent Purchases
I'll end my thoughts on these disks, just by saying that they should be owned by anyone who enjoys Mozart's orchestral work; these were a real find for me. Curzon's reputation in Mozart was exceptionally strong, although his recorded repertiore in the PCs is quite limited. Here, he demonstrates a masterful lightness of touch and sense of melody which gives these pieces a coherence and accessibility which I don't always hear to this degree in these works... they are a pair of CDs which you could just play around and around for some time without getting tired... do consider buying them.. :-))Jared wrote:Mozart: Piano Concertos 20,23,24,26 & 27
Clifford Curzon (Decca Legends 2CD)
Britten & English Chamber (20, 27)
Kertesz & London Symphony (26, 23, 24)
this recently re-released Decca twofer just makes you glad to be alive...
