welcome to the partywushuliu wrote:So which mqncontrol is recommended?
FYI, this is the best player I have ever heard. I have played with everything from Jriver to ulilith/reclock, SAP, MPCHC, Pureplayer, Poobar, Potplayer, XXHE, Monkey, Jplay etc. and more; MQN is incredible. Sounds like the noise floor just drops, music is clean with much less digititis (other than my gear/recording).
As for the different versions. I am enjoying 2.68 8 other cat. Frankly I like every version I've hears so far, some better than others but will need more time to evaluate.
Thanks SBGK!

Re: MQN
I am getting an error since I upgraded to Win 8.1
ERROR: The process "mqnplay.exe" with PID 7636 could not be terminated.
Reason: Access is denied.
This happens on loading, but it would continue to play.
Any idea...thanks!

-yes. everything is very good like you say.sbgk wrote:uploaded 2.69 sse2 intel, this has the new method of prefetching and the raw setting. Seems to have everything, sweet, detailed, good bass, good vocals. Shall stop here and base the other versions on this one.
-except for the treble tune got soared.
-2.66 v2's treble tune is more correct. 2.67 got very slightly soared. 2.68 got a little more soared. and r2 versions become obvious.
-i think tot align has the correct tune of treble like 2.66 v2.

still prefer 2.66 v2 for emotion.wushuliu wrote:Prefer 2.68 other cat so far, but I have only heard from 2.66. There is more 'emotion' to the music. 2.69 is similar but more forward in the midrange to me.

I think this version has very much upwards slanted sound.
Its going a long way away from a natural clean studio sound and entering some other weird territory.
This version sounds light weight. Bass is nowhere. mids are recessed. Highs are weird, like there is a shimmering distortion.
Apologies, but I need to say what I hear. And I can find no other way to say it. I do not mean to be impolite.
