Hi there. My beloved Denon headphones came a cropper last week when I accidentally wrenched them out of my PC and destroyed the jack. I've bought a replacement jack from Amazon and plan to solder it soon. I need a soldering iron and was planning on just getting something cheap from Woodies: http://www.woodiesdiy.com/Product/Drape ... mJB7ugagp8
But then I started worrying that perhaps it's a piece of crap and I'd end up destroying the headphones. What do the experts think? Is it a false economy? Should I try to get something a little more precise?

Re: Repairing headphones – soldering query
Frankie, from my very limited experience, this looks as if it would do the job. I used something less refined to successfully solder a dry joint on a Marantz CD player printed circuit board. At my humble level of ability, I found some useful tutorials on You Tube - how to solder. These kept me out of trouble. I expect that the more proficient DIY guys on the forum could give better guidance than I! Good luck with the repair. Nigel.
