Audiosmile operate on the lower frequencies hence the reason you will hear them. Completely different type of supertweeter to townshends. It is very difficult to hear anything from townshends unless you sit on top of them. Audiosmile as you identified are clearly audible. One of the failings of them is the ability to tone them down when required. There are just two settings and I use the low setting so reckon you would be on ear plugs if they were upped. When I get a chance this week will test MQN with R2 (2012 Windows Server)Fran wrote: This last one I think is very interesting indeed. My hearing tops out in home-diy tests around 16k or so - which is about average for my age. Even though I "shouldn't" be hearing the STs, obviously I am, maybe due to harmonics down the scale or something. BUT what struck me afterwards is that right there is a very valid reason why some people wouldn't hear differences, and others would.
Fran
and see how that fares.
I would be in Pearse's camp I like the level of detail they bring but as Fran and to a lesser extent Pearse advise they can be too much.
When that happens to me I just turn them off. Fran made a comment previously that they would really benefit panels that are a bit off in the treble panel. He is probably spot on there but also the panels in mine are OTA's version not quad originals and they are reported as being brighter, more detail, less true to the original etc. Also they are capable of being driven harder than the originals.
