The Sixteen
The Queen of Heaven
In 2013 world-renowned choir The Sixteen presents its most far-reaching Choral Pilgrimage tour yet, encompassing 35 concerts around the UK and Ireland. The tour, entitled The Queen of Heaven, will see Harry Christophers CBE and his choir perform glorious music in churches and cathedrals for which it was written. An unmissable new version of Allegri’s Miserere is one of the programme’s highlights, accompanied by glorious music by Palestrina and MacMillan. The new Allegri Miserere draws on original source material to show how the piece has evolved over the centuries into the work audiences know today.
Founder and conductor Harry Christophers says ‘I have decided to look at the music of three composers who, although separated by centuries, are unique in their devotion to the church. We really do have a wealth of amazing music for you which I have no doubt will enrich all our lives’.
