Build a dedicated Audio PC
Re: Build a dedicated Audio PC
Was going to try the mqn player. Do I really have to sign up with rapidshare to download it?
Re: Build a dedicated Audio PC
Rapidshare has turned into some mixed up, impossible to use, download site which makes no sense.Claus wrote:Was going to try the mqn player. Do I really have to sign up with rapidshare to download it?
I will email you the latest version of MQN - if Nige hasn't got there first :)?

At a more basic level I have temporarily got the usb key on control pc working off the anker. Using both sticks now on the anker but require using the mini usb slot on the anker which charges it to be connected to a usb slot on my laptop. It wont work any other way.
Very much like all I am hearing. Have made quiet a few changes( improvements?) over the last week but with the amount of stuff installed by lads here over the same period I think I may have slipped further behind in the arms race. Know how the Russians felt! Certainly even with a laptop as control pc the batteries on the audiopc and the meicord have mellowed out the sound with no seeming loss of detail.
Nice thing the improvements cost a little more than a €120 odd.(caveat I got the meicord secondhand)
Touch wood nothing blown up yet but the ciunas I think has been discharged twice in the last week as I keep forgetting to turn it off.
John how long do I need to leave it plugged in after finishing playing to recharge? Do I leave it turned on to charge or will it charge with the light out?

Re: Build a dedicated Audio PC
The Ciunas devices are really designed to be trickle charged - so PS plugged in all the time.tony wrote: John how long do I need to leave it plugged in after finishing playing to recharge? Do I leave it turned on to charge or will it charge with the light out?
If you have it plugged into a US port which is turned off/PC turned off then it might be best to use an external 5V supply that is seldom unplugged.
What I advise you to do now is leave it on charge for a prolonged period (a couple of days to be sure) as when the battery is depleted (not a good thing) it takes a prolonged period to bring it back to full charge. Once it depleted you probably didn't get it back to full charge before you used it the next time?

I realise John it aint a good think to deplete it and actually use a wallwart to charge it but always plug it out. It will be left on going forward. One thing switch it on or leave it switched off when trickle charging?
And Thanks

Re: Build a dedicated Audio PC
Had a quick listen there on a Win7 laptop (I know... the shame!). I can perhaps hear a more analog feel from mQN, but I like the sound stage and bas I get from jplay better (running xstream and buffer at 4). I only have very few wav files and I am not going to convert a whole bunch of flacs right now. I can't seem to play hi-res either so I am back to Core and play on the NUC for the time being. Thanks to John for sending me the files! He won!
