Going through some of my favorites since the new hifi. Doesnt get much better than this. Very refreshing to hear it again after so long.

Hey Derek.
That's a great live version.
I have the studio version on a CD, Back Streets of Desire ...

Great album. TBH willy DeVille is one of those artists who, for me, could do no wrong.
Have this on vinyl somewhere:Image
Hi Tweber
I felt he was very underrated, so much so, it was difficult to find his music on the shelf.
Just been looking through my recordings and to my shame I don't have any of his any more.
Miracle was always in the car back when I had Cassette.
All of what I had of his was on cassette.[/quote]

Hi Derek, it was his only album I have.Thought he was pretty cool though. Always loved Spanish Jack & most of Miracle to be honest - though not a huge Knopfler fan at all. Must reinvestigate him. Shane

There's some really stunning stuff on this new release - jaysus there must be savage amounts of unreleased stuff in the back catalogue given what they have released on this. "Pretty Saro" on CD1 and the versions of "Went to see the Gypsy" "New Morning" (with a great horn section) on CD2 is just fantastic. And they did a nice job on remastering the original album too!

Great documentary photos in that vid btw.

Nothing surprises me with Dylan when it comes to the sheer quality of his discarded songs.  Two of his greatest songs - Blind Willie McTell and Lay Down Your Weary Tune - were shelved and did not see official release until many years later.  One song I hope we'll see more of in the ongoing Bootleg Series is the fascinating Brownsville Girl.

Good to know that there's still brilliant music out there by groups we've never heard of :) These are really up your street John , aren't they :) The first one reminds me of Stephen Duffy and the other one's female vocalist is a dead ringer for Loreena McKennitt.....and that's not to belittle her in any way!
