^^ pleased you're enjoying it Sean... opera isn't as greatly to be feared as I once thought, and have seen Rossini's Lady of the Lake, La Cenerentola and Barber of Seville over the past 12 or so months...

meanwhile, a small departure for me:

The Kondrashin is the only version of Scheherazade I own, Sean... and will dig it out in due course, to follow your notes with.

It's a splendid performance.

... but this is uniformly pretty good, benefiting from surprisingly good recording quality, and containing the rare Gloria RV.588 next to the 589, as well as three other less frequently recorded smaller choral works.... overall, quite satisfying and very cheap.

I have been saying for years that I think Vivaldi's Sacred music is highly undervalued; I really like it Jared and it can have an "edge" to it. I am glad that you have enjoyed it.

I know you have my friend... although it appears that it has only of late been coming back into fashion (if there is such a thing).

I dislike repeating myself and "going on" about such things but there is such a rich treasure to be found in Vivaldi's Sacred Music works for those inclined to hunt it out. I am no slave to musical fashion but if it helps to bring this music to a wider audience then I am happy that it is currently "trendy".
