I am hoping to go at some stage - not sure when... Probably afternoon but not sure yet...
Re: Anyone going to Cloney on Sunday
I arrived about 3pm and missed the introduction but it was a very enjoyable demo.
When I arrived it was computer audio but, shortly after, it switched to a CD player [Copland].
Lots of tracks were played [Noel just kept inserting CD's, playing a few tracks and then
switching to another one] -- 'More music less talk' -- there was a real mix of music but
no DSOTM [a pity]. But some Leonard Cohen, Christy Moore, Gilbert and Sullivan,
Piano [Goldberg], Orchestral, Jazz etc ..
It was different to the 'Listenning Room' demos is that nothing was repeated and there
was a wide mix of music and hardly any talk [some people had brought their own CD's].
You really got a chance to listen to the system but ideally you would like to try it
at home ..
Impressive sound : if I was starting out and had 5k I would look at this amplifier. But I would
want to hear it with music I know.
I much prefered the demo to the Naim none [a few months ago] where they played the same
track ripped with different software packages and at different resolutions. Also the demo
at the 'Listenning Room' where we heard a track from 'Liquid Air' a million times [but I did
buy the album !!]

Re: Anyone going to Cloney on Sunday
I arrived at Cloney's at 12 on Sunday.
First to arrive so there was a good chance to peruse the Devialet 170 that was on demo.
A thing of beauty indeed. Immaculate finish, solid feel. Timeless appearance. I can't see this dating for many years. Quality.
And, despite my preconceptions, I was really impressed by the sound.
Even though it was playing through a new pair of Dynaudio's that weren't warmed up I thought it was great.
Liquid, focussed, powerfully realistic. You know that moment when you hear something for the first time and it seems just right? Bingo.
I was really surprised because I would have a preference for valves, and was sceptical about Class D, and now I'm not so sure.
Of course the Diavelet utilises Class A and D. That it ?
Anyway, a real audition is a must.
Thanks again to Ivan and Noel for an enjoyable experience.
