Interesting enough alright. I never built any of the gain clone amps but Id be a little sceptical about some of his claims. 7 days to build a monoblock? You'd do it in an evening. What is he charging?

If was ever to do one id buy a kit from a fella in Canada who I really think produces great work and is very helpful. Peter daniels is his name and audiosector is the website. I would trust his ears.

I have a thing for mono blocks. I've never actually owned a pair. That 'thing' must be envy.

I'm a believer in dual mono - either 1 or 2 chassis.

i was looking at the site you posted Fran...and it gave me an idea...would you run an evening class on amp building?or maybe post a detailed step by step (with pics) of how you built your amp.

Yikes!!

Don't know if I'd be qualified to do that, but if someone needs help, I could certainly help out.

Thought it might be interesting to post a pic of the internals of one of these things. Note this is a stereo amp, dual mono jobbie:

Note that you would also need a good big transformer, chassis, connectors etc. As you will have seen Peters kits are around the $100 mark....

If you are interested, there's lots of stuff on the web about these chip amps. I'm sure I can find pics from one of the amp builds....
